Species text
DistributionThe species has not been recorded south of a line between Breconshire and Yorkshire. It is a Holarctic species with records from Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia.
Habitat and ecology
Any differences in the habitat preferences of A. cauta and this species are not yet known. It occurred commonly in blanket bog in Scotland with A. cauta. Adults of both sexes have been recorded in summer.
Status
A. olivacea was only recognised as a separate species distinct from A. cauta (O. P.-Cambridge) and described from Britain by Hippa & Oksala in 1985. It may be frequent in suitable habitat.
Threats
Drainage and erosion of blanket bogs are likely to be the principal threats to this species.
Management and conservation
Ensure the water table of blanket bogs is maintained at high levels.
